Luke van der Beeke

Founder + Managing Director

Luke is an internationally recognised expert in behaviour change marketing and communications, with 30 years’ experience delivering positive change in Australia and overseas. A former Director of The National Social Marketing Centre (UK), Luke has delivered behaviour change programs, training and advice in areas including non-communicable and infectious disease control, mental health, transport, disability services, family and domestic violence, suicide prevention, the environment, climate change, waste reduction, sustainable development, social welfare and public safety. Luke is an Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University (CERIPH) and Griffith University (School of Marketing). He’s Vice President of the Australian Health Promotion Association (AHPA), and a board member of the International Social Marketing Association (ISMA). He is committed to reducing health inequalities and amplifying the voice of lived experience in policy and practice. 

Christie van der Beeke

Founder + Director – Communications and Impact

Christie is a communications and public relations professional with 25 years’ experience operating in senior roles in Australia and the United Kingdom. Her extensive experience encompasses strategic marketing, corporate communications, media management, community and industry engagement, public relations, brand development and event management. Christie is a trained facilitator with expertise in process improvements and organisational change, and believes in providing creative leadership to achieve organisational goals and integrated marketing solutions. She is a Certified Practising Marketer and is IAP2 certified.

Dr. Brian Gordon OAM

Founder + Non-Executive Director

Brian is a highly respected member of Australia’s community service sector having spent decades working in CEO and Board roles across health and social services. He was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2021 for service to the community. Brian founded Perth City Mission (which later became Mission Australia) and is a co-founder of the West Australian Governor’s Prayer Breakfast. He also established Foodbank in WA, and Yirra – a residential treatment facility for teenagers experiencing substance abuse. He has held Board roles at WACOSS, Opportunity International, Bendigo Bank, Meerilinga Children’s Foundation, Children International WA and Palmerston.

Donna van Bueren
Director – Behavioural Insights

Donna is a highly regarded strategic advisor and practitioner, with over 30 years’ experience working with governments in Australia and overseas. She has an extensive record of consulting and delivering projects in behaviour change, citizen engagement and government communications capability across Australia, Singapore, the UAE and Saudi Arabia and, through collaboration, into developing countries. Donna’s subject areas of expertise are road safety, public health, culture and the arts, national identity and citizenship, unemployment and family violence. She has worked for more than a decade with behavioural theories and models of influence, and specialises in their application across both Western and Middle Eastern contexts and socio-demographic settings.

Allison Grainger
Strategic Insights Lead

Allison is an experienced and passionate researcher with almost 20 years experience in the market and social research sector. She has worked with clients across a broad range of topics, with particular experience in public sector communications, strategy development and execution (formative, concept testing and evaluation research), qualitative and quantitative behaviour change research, community attitude tracking, community and consumer segmentation, stakeholder consultation, corporate reputation and brand guidance research. 

Prof Sharyn Rundle-Thiele

Chief Scientist

Sharyn was trained in marketing and today she applies marketing techniques to protect people and the planet. She founded Social Marketing @ Griffith and in 2025 joined The Behaviour Change Collaborative as our Chief Scientist. Sharyn has led projects that have co-designed community action plans aiming to prevent youth violence and sexual abuse, evaluated bystander programs, and founded Blurred Minds. Sharyn is an Honorary Professor at University of Queensland, and was a Founding Co-Editor of the Journal of Social Marketing.

Melissa Dalley

Senior Project Officer

Melissa is a social marketer who thrives on collaboration, working alongside peers and stakeholders to design and implement evidence-based behaviour change initiatives across public health, environmental sustainability, and social impact sectors. With expertise in strategic thinking, marketing, and creative direction, she excels at translating big-picture goals into actionable solutions. Passionate about improving women’s health, Melissa is undertaking a Graduate Research Diploma at Griffith University. Her research focuses on enhancing care and awareness for those with endometriosis through research-driven, patient-centred initiatives that improve women’s lives.

Jacqui Leonard
Project Assistant

Jacqui is an enthusiastic and committed project assistant who is about to graduate with a Bachelor of Health Science from Edith Cowan University. Majoring in health promotion and nutrition, she has experience in developing and implementing public health programs, evaluating, planning and conducting research, and communicating health issues to diverse audiences. She is passionate about public health issues, chronic disease prevention, and improving the health and wellbeing of others. She also holds a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice from Griffith University, which shaped her interest and understanding of human behaviour and social justice issues. 

Tess Dalton

Project Officer

Tess is an enthusiastic and dedicated research officer and project assistant with a health promotion background and a keen interest in social justice issues. As a graduate from an International Union for Health Promotion and Education accredited degree at Curtin University, she has experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating public health programs spanning mental health, sexual health, and planetary health. 

Asha Smedley

Project Assistant

Following a succesful student placement in 2023, Asha accepted a role as a casual project assistant. She has supported several health promotion and social research projects at The BCC. She has a Bachelor of Health Science, Nutrition and Health Promotion at Edith Cowan University.
